Ms. Chloe
Ms. Chloe earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Xinghai Conservatory of Music, and she is currently studying under Prof. Thomas Harper to pursue her Master’s Degree at the University of Washington. Over the past decade, she has dedicated herself to teaching piano and voice to both children and adults. Many of her students have participated in ABRSM and Seattle competitions, achieving excellent results under her guidance. Chloe is known for her professional music knowledge, as well as her patience and friendly personality, which have earned her recognition from many parents and students.
Chloe strives to help her students find their musical voice and develop a passion for playing. She is disciplined while being caring, positive, and patient. Believing in making learning fun, she ensures that her students not only learn but also enjoy their musical journey.
Tong Liu
Holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Washington. From 2017 to 2019, served as a piano instructor and leading Teaching Assistant at the University of Washington School of Music, where they nurtured and inspired many budding musicians. In 2019 and 2020, had the honor of serving as a judge for the Washington State National Federation of Music Clubs for two consecutive years, contributing to the recognition of young musical talent. In 2015, was selected as a fellow of the prestigious Gilmore Keyboard Festival and had the privilege of performing at the Bach Keyboard Festival in Chicago.
Mavis Chan
Mavis is a recent graduate of the University of Washington. She holds bachelor’s degrees UW's music school as well as Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a specialization in Product Marketing. Mavis is a soprano and studied voice with Dr. Carrie Shaw during her time at UW. Mavis has been a part of numerous opera productions and choral ensembles within the Seattle area, and has placed both 1st and 3rd in the Puget Sound Chapter of NATS. Additionally, she grew up playing the piano and has had 14 years of lessons. Along with her lessons, she participated every year in the National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals Program and passed the Grade 8 ABRSM examination.
Mavis has had many caring and inspiring educators throughout her music journey and she is excited to pass that passion and creativity along to the next generation of musicians!
Grace Playstead
Grace is a concert flutist and educator from Olympia, WA, with a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Puget Sound. Currently pursuing a Master of Music, majoring in Flute at the University of Washington under Dr.Donna Shin, she has studied with esteemed teachers like Karla Flygare and Ninee Petchprapa Wolff. Grace’s achievements include being a finalist in the 2022 University of Puget Sound Concerto-Aria Competition and runner-up in the 2023 Concerto-Aria Competition. Her awards include the Doc and Lucille Weathers Memorial Scholarship and the James R. Slater Excellence in Music Award. Grace has participated in prestigious summer programs such as the Marrowstone Music Festival and the National Flute Association Collegiate Flute Choir.
Grace enjoys travel, reading, crocheting, and outdoor activities, including hiking with her dog, Koa.
David Lin (Online Only)
David is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with Prof. Chi Ho Han. During his undergraduate years, David had the privilege of performing solo and chamber works both domestically and abroad, including the Atlantic Music Festival and the Gijón International Piano Festival in Spain. Recent performances include a solo recital featuring works by Chopin at the Polish Festival Seattle, and a collaborative recital with Viridian Winds live on Classical KING-FM. David’s experiences and education serve to deepen his well of knowledge that he can share with his students. He takes great care in understanding his students and their learning style so that he can meet their needs and nurture a love of music-making. Outside of teaching, David can be seen playing piano with various youth ensembles in the Greater Seattle area.
Honoka Cater
Honoka Cater is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Washington under Dr. Robin McCabe. Born in Osaka, Japan, she began her musical journey studying the electric organ. During her years in Japan, she attended the Yamaha Music School and participated in the Yamaha Electric Organ Competitions for both solo and small ensembles for over ten years, winning several awards. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Music from Highline College, where she studied with Dr. Ben Thomas. While there, she actively organized events and volunteer opportunities for international students. Honoka continued her education at Seattle Pacific University, studying piano with Dr. Dainius Vaicekonis and percussion with Prof. Dan Adams. She received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance in the fall of 2023. As a multi-instrumentalist, Honoka plays a wide variety of instruments, including strings, brass, and the Japanese koto. She greatly enjoys seeing her students grow in their musicianship and develop a love for making music.
Emi Oguri
Emi began her music education at the renowned Yamaha Music School in Tokyo, where she trained from age 4 to 18 in theory, piano, composition, ensemble, jazz, and multiple instruments. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Utah and a Post-Baccalaureate in Music Therapy with piano emphasis from California State University, Northridge, where she studied piano performance under Dr. Jeanine M. Jacobson and explored the clinical and therapeutic applications of music.
Certified in Musikgarten and Kindermusik, Emi incorporates eurhythmics into her piano instruction, fostering creativity and movement-based learning. She currently serves as a company and school pianist at Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle and also performs at weddings and events throughout the region, offering a wide-ranging repertoire of originals, classical, jazz, and pop. Emi is set to complete her Master of Arts in Teaching, Special Education, in spring 2026.
